SIBELIUS: Delivering improved resilience for Kyrgyz herding communities using satellite derived services (IPP Case Study)
The SIBELIUS project has developed and delivered new technology which is providing improved pasture monitoring capabilities in Kyrgyzstan to support the country’s large and economically significant herding community. Satellite Earth observation provides an efficient means for monitoring environmental parameters, such as pasture, snow and drought, over inaccessible regions, which can facilitate improved pasture management decisions to help prevent the degradation of pasture regions in the hills and mountains, which is an increasing problem in Kyrgyzstan.
