University of Oxford Disaster Resilience

Product by University of Oxford

University of Oxford has developed techniques in the interpretation of satellite imagery through crowdsourcing, machine learning and deep learning to identify changes in landscapes over time (e.g. destroyed buildings, flooded areas). This information can be combined with other datasets, e.g. Twitter feeds, to highlight highest risk areas for targeting relief efforts. This has been deployed with response agencies following hurricanes in the Caribbean in 2017.
